Catherine's artwork

Just in the last little while Catherine's artwork has become so much better (and she was a good little artist before). I'm not even going to title the pictures. If you can't figure them out, then I will. I'll add some of Megan's artwork tomorrow. She, of course, won't be outdone by her sister.

Jonah and the BYU hat

After I watched Braden one day and he came over wearing a little BYU cap, Jonah tried it on and loved it. He has been wearing his dad's BYU cap whenever he finds it. He doesn't care to wear Dan's work hat (that's also blue), just the BYU caps and they're usually backwards.

Catherine's 6th Birthday

Here are a couple of Catherine's celebration's. She had a total of 4 celebrations as was so excited. At school they sang Happy Birthday to her, we had an immediate family celebration, an extended family celebration and her friend's party. This is her with her cake at her friend's party. Like usual, the pictures aren't in order. This is all the "princesses" at the party.

This is the girls making their crowns. They also had to find a "pea" under a pillow, find their matching glass slippers, walk a certain distance with a book on their head and I think that was it.
Catherine blowing out candles of her cake with the extended family. She wanted roses on this one. I'm getting a lot of practice with those, though they take a long time.

Catherine opening some of her presents. She loved everything. I really like her age that she still gets excited over everything.

Abracadabra

At dinner tonight Jonah was making all his food disappear.... up his sleeve. Not sure if he was storing it for later or what, but he was sure getting a kick out of it.

Also, Megan told me it was the best Macaroni & Cheese, that it tastes like nothing. Gee, thanks.

Catherine's report card

We got Catherine's report card and most everything is marked outstanding or the x stating she's mastered it, and I get down to her "knows her first name" "x" and then her last name (and they mean writing or spelling it) and it's marked "/" which is making progress. Huh? I just saw her write her name while she was doing her homework and she did it perfectly, even capitalizing the middle letter. Then I look up at the top where it has the student's name and the teacher has spelled her last name wrong, not even taking into account the capital letter in the middle. Oh, that explains it. I guess I need to write a note to the teacher.

Updates

So it's been a few weeks, like usual, since I've updated anything. Dan's been crazy busy at work, which is good he has work, but we miss him. He's been there lots of late nights and weekends. I've been busy with kids and trying to write biographies of some ancestors. Yesterday I got to spend the morning at a genealogy conference with my sister-in-law and had a great time. I learned some new really helpful stuff.

Here are some kid updates. We never had a real problem with the girls drawing on anything except the occasional small stuff. Jonah is a whole other story. He seems to think the panels on the doors are his personal drawing space and we're constantly cleaning off doors or walls. Here's latest (and worst) creation that he knew he was in trouble for.
Yesterday was Catherine's 6th birthday. This is her Mile High Strawberry Pie dessert instead of cake. We're having cake with the extended family today and then she'll have it with her friends next weekend. I know everyone says this, but I can't believe she's six. I miss her cute little toddler personality. She was adorable. I enjoy watching her grow though and everything she's learning and doing.

I don't have pictures, but Megan started dance again and loves it. She's been bugging me for monthgs. I'll have to post pictures later.

Updates

So I'm finally updating my blog. Here is the latest haircuts. I had to cut Jonah's hair. It was getting way too shaggy and Dan's been bugging me to trim Megan's bangs. Megan requested that I trim her hair to the ballerina's on her pj's (because there were some pieces too long). I'm getting much better at cutting straight bangs and girls hair just straight across. This is only my second time cutting Jonah's hair and I think I did a pretty good job, considering the first time was with my sister's help. She actually did most of it, giving me pointers.

We got a new to us piano last weekend (the one before Valentine's day). It was originally my grandparents and has been passed around the family a little. It sounds good still and as you can tell, my kids have been fully enjoying it. I just love the look on Jonah's face. I've been impressed with Catherine and Megan though. I was worried there would be a lot of pounding and there hasn't been any from them. Catherine sits there and writes songs and Megan likes to run her hands up and down the keys, which sounds "like Tinkerbell's coming." Catherine is begging me for lessons, which we're hoping to start her next fall.
Lastly, here's Megan's birthday party. As you can tell it was a Tinkerbell party and she had lots of fun. I tried to get her to wear her Tinkerbell costume, but she wouldn't.
I was so happy she was ok with just a Tinkerbell candle and flowers on her cake rather than a picture of Tinkerbell. Flowers are so much easier.
