New Year's

So three days before Christmas Jonah wakes up crying (which is not like him at all). Just inconsolable. Just wants to be held and is tugging at his ear. (He is my old child to ever tug at his ear and this is the first time, and it be an ear infection) Dan is leaving that morning to go to Las Vegas for the Las Vegas bowl with his brother and dad and I take him into the doctor, no big deal. They tell me he has a pretty bad ear infection in both ears. Ok, Amoxicillian, no big deal. He'll be better by Christmas and he's not contagious. That's a good thing. He's had it before and it's never been a problem. Day 7, he gets into the fridge, after he's already had his morning dose and decides he wants more. I know a little got into his mouth, but it was day 7 of day 10, most of it was on his hands, feet and floor. Great, so I call the nurse and they prescrible another 3 days worth to finish it out.
Day 8, New Years morning. He wakes up I change his diaper and all is well. About an hour and a half later we're going to go out and I have to change him again. He has spots all over his inner thighs and his bottom torso. Not good. So I take him into the doctor again and he says it's not an allergic reaction. It's called an amoxicillian rash (there's a technical name I don't remember) and that it will get worse before it gets better, but it's not a big deal. When we research it on the web it says there is nothing you can do for it, it doesn't itch, there's no fever and it's not a big deal. Just looks really bad. By that night he is miserable. Walking funny, holding his side, rubbing behind his ear and behind his head. We try calamine lotion and whatever we can. This is supposed to be no big deal.
Dan sleeps in his room, because he's cute and protective like that when kids are sick and I have to take care of the baby. 2:00 a.m. Jonah starts throwing up. This is not "no big deal." So Dan and my dad (who was visiting us) take Jonah into the emergency room. He has these huge red spots everywhere, even inside his mouth. He has a temperature and is itching like crazy. Yeah right this is not an allergic reaction. They put him on a steroid, an anti-histamine and a anti-nausea pill, because the rash would be on the inside of his stomach and that is what is making him throw-up. Poor guy. For 5 days he was miserable, scratching and just miserable. Thankfully he is all better now, but this is what he looked like. The spots would start out in one place and then move to other parts of his body. And the pictures do not do it justice. It was a lot brighter red than this. Poor little guy. No more amoxicillian for him.

Nytis' only time sledding

The kids loved sledding. As soon as you'd get to the bottom with Jonah he'd get up and immediately want to go back up the hill and as soon as you got to the top he'd want to slid down again. He would have a huge smile on his face while sledding and then get mad at you if you didn't immediately go again. It was nice that both Catherine and Megan could go by themselves.

Sleeping baby

Proof that at least of my children will sleep on his back like he's supposed to.

A boy and his car

I don't think there's any words that will tell the story better then these pictures do.
