Fireworks

Anxiously waiting for it to get dark enough to watch fireworks. I know it looks dark and by this picture we're probably just getting ready to start.
YEAH!!!!! FIREWORKS!!!!!!

Dan's hanging out with the kids while I get to light a few.
SPARKLERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jonah was really nervous to hold a sparkler and when it got down to the end he started freaking out and saying that it burned him. We rushed his hand in a bowl of cool water and he just sat there soaking his hand the rest of the night. We're not really sure that he did burn his hand though because there was no mark at all, not even a little red spot. So we think that as the sparkler worn down it might have been hot and it just really scared him.

4th of July fun

These pictures are in no particular order. We went to Grandma's annual 4th of July party. There was sponge races. A ring toss to get tootsie pops.
A pie eating contest. Jonah did not actually participate in the contest but after watching everyone eat their pie this way he decided to also.
Megan did participate in the contest for the first time.
This was Catherine's first year participating also.
A waterballoon toss.
A three legged race.
Jonah and his grandpa. He absolutely loves his grandpa and gets so excited whenever we go to grandpa's house.
We had to include Nytis in the pictures.
And the giant water slide. These pictures were supposed to be first.

Love this picture with the braids going wild.

We also watched fireworks at Dan's brother's house that night. Fourth of July was a lot of fun.

The Party's Over

So here are some of the highlights of our party. We had a lot of fun. Dan did a great job on the games.
Here is the totally awesome scarecrow Dan made. It will probably be put away this weekend until Halloween night. After Dan put it up on Friday I kept hearing kids screaming outside. It was pretty funny.

My favorite part of Halloween parties is seeing what creative costumes people come up with and lots of times the most creative cost the least.

Here we have the pregnant "Sister Morrell", the devil and the pregnant nun. They funny thing is, none of them knew each other before the party. I just had to get a picture of them all together. Cara, as the pregnant nun, won the "Funniest Costume" award, though Becca, the pregnant Sister Missionary, was a close second.

Zorro or Wesley? All night long people would say how cool his Zorro costume was and that she was Catherine Zeta Jones. Problem was, he was Wesley from Princess Bride and she was Princess Buttercup. Oops! Larry tied for "Most Original" Costume.

Our devil and angel here won the "Best Couple" costume. He also was a close runner up for cutest costume. This is actually the second time they've won the "Best Couple" costume award at our parties. I guess they're the two to beat.

David was hilarious (as usual) and made a great joker. He won hands down as the "Best Costume" overall and won "Scariest Costume." Debora won the "Cutest Costume" this year.

Matt was the other who tied for "Most Orignal Costume" with the gangster costume. He was hilarious and should have gotten funniest, in my opinion. But, we vote so my opinion isn't the only one who counts. When he turns around, you'd see why his should have been the funniest. You can see his wife is the pregnant Sister Missionary. Boy, her Mission President would love that.

I was the infamous "Mad Scientist" as you could tell by the food. And Dan was our Mexican Revolutionist. He was hilarious also, though he couldn't stay in character all night because he had to act as host also.

By the end of the night, Dan was bone-tired (ha,ha) as you can see.

I wasn't able to post everyone's pictures. They're just too many. It was a lot of fun though and we're already coming up with ideas for next year.

24th of July Primary Activity

Here's Catherine at the Primary Activity Day. She did the stick pull and the other picture she's throwing clothespins in a bucket. We weren't able to stay for all of it. Catherine was sad because she likes to make homemade butter.

I love living in Utah

How I would miss being able to light fireworks living in California. I know some parts of California you still can, but not where we lived. Jonah was soooo tired but completely enthralled in watching the fireworks. They were a little loud for him though. I would put my hands over his ears and if I removed them at all, he would grab my hands and put them back over his ears and he laid in my lap watching the show.

4th of July

We got home from our Seqouia trip on Tuesday and that weekend was the 4th of July. Dan's parents had their annual 4th of July party and this it the cake I made for it. You can't tell from this picture, but all on the sides is the names of our ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War. There wasn't enough room to fit all of them.

Catherine was not happy to sit to take a family picture. She wanted to change into her swim suit and go outside on the big slide that Grandma & Grandpa bought.

Can you blame her?

Fall Decorations

We got out our Fall decorations a week or two ago and we had our annual pumpkin fight. Jonah got involved with it also and had a blast. I'll had to post a picture of our pumpkin patch later.
